What is a VPS, and what is it used for?
A VPS (Virtual Private Server) is an isolated virtual server with its own dedicated resources — CPU, RAM, and disk space — running on a physical server shared with other customers. Unlike regular shared hosting, a VPS gives you root access, so you can install any operating system and any software, just like on your own physical server. VPS servers are commonly used for hosting websites and online stores, running VPNs, bots, and messaging services, game servers, development and staging environments, mail servers, and any workload that needs predictable resources and full control over the server.
Why choose VPS hosting?
VPS hosting combines the flexibility of a dedicated server with a much lower price. Compared to shared hosting, you get guaranteed resources — other tenants on the same physical machine don't affect your VPS's performance — and full root access lets you install any OS, tune the server for your exact workload, and avoid the limits of a shared hosting control panel. Compared to a physical dedicated server, a VPS is far more affordable, and you can scale up its resources at any time without migrating to new hardware. On top of that, a VPS gives you isolation from other users, your own dedicated IP address, and the ability to configure security exactly the way you need — making it a solid choice for both small projects and growing services.
